I dare you, I double dog dare you! As kids we knew things were serious when the "double dog" was brought out. This would mean you had to prove your courage or skill in some way right then and there. The hi-jinks of young boys sometimes makes us laugh but today I want to dare you to be bold for Christ. Immediately we all probably look to the worst demonstration of boldness we can think of and virtually reject the notion. "I’ve seen some crazy people over the years." Or "I don’t want to be like those people." Goes thru our minds. Yet the whole of the gospels encourages us to be bold.
Today’s lesson should be a challenge yet the idea is not to condemn. We have a mission, we play it out in many ways but it will always require us to be outspoken, bold or active in some way. So listen and consider the word and take the dare. I double dog dare you to.
